ABOUT US

The Sussex Horse Rescue Trust (SHRT) was established in the 1960s. It runs a rescue programme for equines that have suffered neglect and mistreatment. We currently have more than 250 horses, ponies and donkeys under our care.

Hempstead Farm, although ideal in size for our needs, had been neglected for a number of years and we have spent much time and effort clearing up and renovating buildings to accommodate our animals. The Trust's ongoing refurbishment and renovation plan is designed to create a safe, comfortable environment for those animals in our care.

We continually strive to promote animal welfare by producing free advice sheets. Visitors are encouraged to read our Information Boards and take away our available literature.

The Trust is a registered charity (number 297576) and can be found on the Charity Commission Site.

THE WORTHING SHOP

We have a successful charity shop at 6 New Broadway, Tarring Road, West Worthing. This shop is totally run by Volunteers and relies on donations of clothes, bric-a-brac and small pieces of furniture

We are very grateful to all our Volunteers - the funds raised are invaluable to the Sanctuary.
